Help with John Deere Zero Turn Mower?

Sam B asked:

I left my 23 HP John Deere mower out in the rain, and now it has some major problems. At first I it would'nt start, but I tightened the battery connections and it cranked up. When it started it was sputtering and blowing white smoke. I let it warm up and pushed the throttle to full, but that only magnifyed the symtoms. It only crawls along at full throttle. I gave it a few days to dry out, and it still acts the same. What could be the problem?

it got water in the crankcase&fuel systems.
take out the battery, set it aside.
drain the oil &replace the oil filter.add new oil to specs, if its being run above 40deg. f. usually its 30 wt oil
drain the fuel completely, change the fuel filter, drain the fuel from the carburetor. , you can clean or replace the spark plug, making sure its gapped correctly.
also, check the air filter if its soggy&the foam kind it needs to be dried before use. its its paper replace it
add gas & try to operate again, remember to start slowly let the oil&engine come up to normal temp before giving it more throttle.
