I got a 0 turn 2 summers ago and got rid of it. I hated it. I bought a John Deer. It chewed up the grass something terrible. Take my advice….don’t buy one!
I own a ZTR Grasshopper and am very happy with it. The front deck allows the grass to be cut before being squashed by a tire so it allows for a more even cut. I also have a lot of pines and that style allows me to get under the branches = no trimming = happy me.
I used to own a JD and liked it as well, just had to pay more for that famous green and yellow paint.
I think the first answerer may have been turning too quickly as that will tear up the grass. Back ‘er down a bit at the turn and you should not have any problems.
Cost? Ya get what ya pay for. My brand new GH was about $5500 with trade in, but I mow almost 2 acres. I am counting on new belts and blades being my only maintence items (besides iol/ filters) for quite some time as I take care of my equipment. I look at it as a good investment.
PS: When I say “I take care of…” I really mean… my man takes care of…
